今年の3月に、スコットランドで始まったのPB150の状況を上のようにお伝えしました。今回は、3ヶ月のさまざまなテストを経て定格150kWの実証発電に成功したということです。そして、OPT社のパワーブイ PB150は、アメリカのオレゴン州でのオレゴンプロジェクトが進められます。まもなく、オレゴンの海でも実験が開始されます。

・Ocean Power Technologies Commences in-Ocean Trials of New Generation Utility-Scale Wave Power Device

" Ocean Power Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:OPTT) ("OPT" or the "Company"), a leading wave energy technology company, is pleased to announce the commencement of ocean trials of the first of its new generation utility-scale PowerBuoy(R) device, the PB150. With a peak-rated power output of 150 kilowatts - equivalent to the energy consumption of approximately 150 homes - the PB150 is the largest and most powerful wave power device designed by OPT to date.

This device was successfully deployed at sea on April 15, 2011 by a team including Scotland-based Global Maritime Scotland Ltd, Port Services (Invergordon) Ltd and OPT, with the support of the Cromarty Firth Port Authority. A second PB150 is now under construction in the US for an anticipated utility-scale project in Oregon, and the Company is involved in other planned projects in North America, Australia, Japan and Europe that would utilize the PB150 PowerBuoy.

　オレゴンプロジェクトは、Reedsport OPT Wave Parkでの実証実験を経て、やがてはCoos Bay OPT Wave Parkでの、PB500（500kW) 200基により提案されている100 MWの巨大な波力発電所の建設計画へと進みます。国、オレゴン州立大学、そしてOPT社の産学協力体制もあり、次のステップに進む可能性が高い波力発電所開発プロジェクトだと思います。
　スコットランドでもこうした大規模な海洋エネルギーを利用する計画の具体化が急がれています。OPT社のパワーブイは、世界初の大規模波力発電所建設の成功例へと発展する可能性がありそうです。(2t)

" OPT is developing the first commercial wave park on the West Coast of the United States located 2.5 miles offshore near Reedsport, Oregon. The wave park will consist of ten (10) PB150 PowerBuoys, or 1.5 MW, an undersea substation to collect the power, and a submarine cable to deliver the renewable power to the Pacific Northwest electric grid. Each PB150 PowerBuoyR has a maximum sustained generating capacity of 150 kiloWatts.

The estimated amount of electricity this project will deliver to the grid is approximately 4,140 MegaWatt-hours/year based on the wave resource at this location, or enough for up to 375 homes. Electricity generated by OPT’s clean, renewable PowerBuoy system will displace 2,110 tons of carbon dioxide annually1. The power created by the Reedsport project is expected to be delivered to the Pacific Northwest Generating Cooperative (PNGC Power). The Reedsport preliminary permit application can accommodate up to 50 MW for potential future expansion at this site. "
