Google、建設中のBrightSource Energyのミラー集光式392MW太陽熱発電所 Ivanpah Solar に1億6800万ドルを投資

　Googleは、昨年秋よりすでの建設が開始されているBrightSource Energyの総発電量392MW（定格370MW）の太陽熱発電所 Ivanpah Solar に1億6800万ドルを投資すると発表しました。この計画は、100MWを越える大型のBrightSource Energy社のLPT 550 heliostatsシステムを採用した三基のミラー集光式392MW太陽熱発電所から構成されています。完成予定は、2013年。完成すれば、カリフォルニアで 140,000分の家庭の電力をまかなう規模の巨大太陽熱発電所となります。

　発電の仕組みは、太陽を自動追尾するヘリオスタッツ Heliostats　とよばれる14.4平方メートルの巨大な鏡、約50,000枚（100MWクラス）により光をタワーに集めることで熱を発生させ、内蔵のボイラーで水蒸気を作り、発電機を回転させ電気を作るというシンプルなものだ。シンプルなだけに、鏡、タワーの製造技術と制御が非常に高い技術が必要とされています。

System. Ivanpah is the world‘s largest solar project under construction and when completed in

2013 will nearly double the amount of solar thermal electricity produced in the U.S. today.

As part of the financing, BrightSource finalized $1.6 billion in loans guaranteed by the U.S.

Department of Energy‘s Loan Programs Office. The company also announced that Google will

join NRG Solar LLC and BrightSource as an equity investor in the project by making a $168

million investment.

" A 370 megawatt nominal (392 megawatt gross) solar complex using mirrors to focus the power of the sun on solar receivers atop power towers.
The electricity generated by all three plants is enough to serve more than 140,000 homes in California during the peak hours of the day.
The complex will reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by more than 400,000 tons per year.
Located in Ivanpah, approximately 50 miles northwest of Needles, California (about five miles from the California-Nevada border) on federal land managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
The complex is comprised of three separate plants to be built in phases between 2010 and 2013, and will use BrightSource Energy’s LPT 550 technology. "

　建設場所は、かなり乾燥しています。乾燥しているだけに鏡面への埃にどう対処しているかなど知りたいところです。

　Googleが投資ということなので、すでに建設されているということですので、Googleマップにその景色が、、、、と思ったのですが、まだでした。
