" The Horns Rev II offshore wind farm, comprising 91 wind turbines capable of producing 209 MW, has been connected to the electricity grid and will now start producing 800 GW/h per annum ? enough to meet the demand of 200,000 Danish households. "

It was May 2006 when we last released information about our power-conversion efficiencies to the public (for a cell sample on glass actually back then). We have made a lot of progress since then; so an update is appropriate.
Our lab and production teams have managed to make more progress on efficiency than we had planned on in any of our business plans. Recall that we print CIGS onto inexpensive metal foil, that is, something that some have been skeptical can work while others have been wondering whether it can deliver efficient cells.
So we are pleased to announce that our low-cost printed-CIGS-on-metal-foil cell stack and process produces quite efficient cells: Earlier this year, NREL independently verified several of our cell foils to be as efficient as 16.4%.
At 16.4% efficiency, our foil cells represent two world records in one: It's the most efficient printed solar cell of any kind (all semiconductor and device technologies) as well as the most efficient cell on a truly low-cost metal foil (with a material cost of only a cent or two per square foot and mil thickness).
In terms of our current baseline production process, our best production rolls now achieve higher than 11% median efficiency measured as equivalent to panel efficiency, with very tight cross- and down-web uniformity.
A comprehensive description of our cell technology platform as well as NREL's efficiency certifications can be found in our cell technology white paper.

The panel factory is automated to sustain a production rate of one panel every ten seconds, or an annual capacity of 640MW when operated 24x7. Nanosolar also today announced that serial production in its San Jose, California, cell production factory commenced earlier this year.
”Getting to the point of serial production with the unusual cost reduction involved in our technology is an accomplishment due to the incredible work and perseverance of our team,” said CEO Roscheisen.
..........
Production is presently set at approximately one MW per month. As Nanosolar's customers attain project financing from commercial banks for the new panel product, the company will increase its monthly production rate to deliver on its contractual customer commitments totaling $4.1 billion to date.

" Tessera Solar and SRP today unveiled plans to partner on a 1.5-megawatt (MW) solar project, Maricopa Solar LLC, in Peoria, Arizona, located in the West Valley of the greater Phoenix area. Maricopa Solar will be the first commercial-scale solar facility built using the innovative SunCatcher(TM) concentrating solar-thermal technology, manufactured by Scottsdale, Arizona-based Stirling Energy Systems (SES). The project will consist of 60 SunCatcher dishes and serve as a milestone for the nationwide deployment of the larger commercial projects previously announced in California and Texas totaling more than 1,600 MW.

" Lieberose Solar Farm Marks a Milestone on the Way toward Utility-Scale Solar Power, Model for Conversion of Military Sites to Environmentally Sustainable Use
The Lieberose solar farm under construction in Brandenburg on Thursday became the world’s second biggest solar power plant and Germany’s biggest, Worrstadt, Germany-based juwi Group and First Solar Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR) announced.
The announcement followed the placement of the 560,000th solar panel in the project by German Infrastructure Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee and Brandenburg Minister President Matthias Platzeck.
The solar farm still under construction in Turnow-Preilack, near Cottbus, is in several ways a landmark project for the solar industry. Despite the current economic and financial crisis, the two companies are building a utility-scale project with a total investment volume of more than ?160 million. With an output of about 53 megawatts and with a size of more than 210 football fields, it is the second-largest PV installation in the world.
.....
The project is being developed on the largest former military training site of the Soviet army in Germany. Due to the relatively low investment and operating costs, it is possible to pay Brandenburg an attractive lease that finances the restoration of the site, including the removal of metal and soil contaminated by leftover grenades, shrapnel and munitions. After the end of the lease period, the solar farm can be removed, restoring the land to its natural state.

" The clean wind energy industry must expand significantly in the next two decades to fulfill a strategy of generating 20 percent of the nation's electricity. To provide the technological foundation for that dramatic growth, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is embarking on significant improvements at its National Wind Technology Center.
Engineers are installing the two largest turbines ever tested at the laboratory ? a 1.5 MW turbine manufactured by General Electric and a 2.3 MW turbine from Siemens Power Generation.
